How would you like to make money with your podcast? If you are podcasting, the potential to generate revenue from your podcast is an extra-added benefit to you as a podcaster.

As a podcaster, you dont have to worry about large overhead and the revenue generated through your podcast will be mostly profit.

There are three main ways in which you can make money with your podcast.

1. Generate Revenue through Commerical Sponsors

One of the greatest ways to generate revenue for your podcast is through commercial sponsorship of your show. If you are able to obtain a major sponsor, you can bring in large revenue for your podcast. As time goes on, major companies are beginning to recognize the true importance of podcasting.

Two Moms, Paige and Gretchen, from Virginia understand the significance of commercial sponsors. They host a weekly show called MommyCast that focuses on mothers. Paige is a mother of 5 and Gretchen is a mother of 2.

They have obtained two major sponsors for their show, Earthlink and Dixie. As a result, they are making substantial revenue just from commercial sponsorship to their show. When they started podcasting, they probably had no idea how popular their show would become. However, Earthlink and Dixie recognized the impact of their show and decided to become sponsors. (http://www.mommycast.com)

If two Moms from Virginia can do this, anyone can accomplish this same goal. It doesnt matter where you live or what you are podcasting about. If you are able to generate a substantial listening audience, the chances of obtaining major sponsors for your podcast will increase.

Commercial sponsorship for your podcast is an excellent way to generate a great source of income. If you are able to obtain a big sponsor, this could bring in large revenue for you as a podcaster.

When two major corporations like Earthlink and Dixie recognize podcasting as a way to reach potential customers, this is great news for all podcasters. When a major sponsor advertises on traditional radio, the radio stations signal is limited by wattage to a specific geographic region. However, with podcasting, there is no geographic limitation. Anyone in the world with a computer or mp3 player can potentially hear the show. Thus, this is an excellent selling point to potential sponsors.

2. Make Money with Donations

Another way to generate revenue with your podcast is with donations. For example, Adam Kempenaar and Sam Hallgren host a twice-weekly film podcast from Chicago called Cinecast. They review different movies and give their opinions. Their podcast is becoming very popular and continues to grow on a daily basis. (www.cinecast.com)

If you visit iTunes, you will see that they are listed as a featured podcast in their podcast directory. This is a major plus for Cinecast. (http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/)

Adam and Sam have decided to make money by requesting donations for their podcast. When you go to their website, you will see a button for PayPay in which listeners can make a donation to their podcast. PayPal has a positive reputation and offers an excellent way for accepting donations.

If you provide valuable information to your listener, they will appreciate your efforts and be more likely to make a donation. However, in time, Cinecast will probably be able to acquire national sponsors.

When you first start podcasting, donations are an excellent way to generate revenue as your audience grows.

3. Get Money from your Website or Blog

The third way that you can make money with your podcast is with advertisements on your website or blog. Google Adsense is one way that you can accomplish this goal. Adsense places ads on your website and when someone clicks on the ads, you get paid. (https://www.google.com/adsense/)

Another way to make money with your website or blog is by promoting different products through Clickbank. ClickBank offers over 10,000 products that you can promote as an affiliate. It is free to sign up as an affiliate at ClickBank and you make money every time someone purchases a product through the links that are displayed on your site. (http://clickbank.com/)

The key element to generating revenue is getting your podcast noticed. The best way to accomplish this goal is by getting your podcast listed in iTunes and also listing your podcast with other podcast directories. You need to let people know that you are out there so that you can obtain a large audience. Over time, as your audience grows, the potential for commercial sponsors will also grow.

Its easy to find and download a free podcast. The best way to find free podcasts is probably to check a podcast directory. A podcast directory is a listing of many, sometimes thousands of different podcasts. The podcast directory will usually organize the podcasts by topic and genre, making it easy to find the type of podcast that is sought. In addition, podcast directories often allow the visitors to comment on the podcasts listed, and provide a list of the favorite podcasts on the site, making it easy for users to find the best podcasts available. These podcast directories can be used to browse through, introducing users to many different podcasts they otherwise would not have found.

Once a podcast has been found that interests the user, it is necessary to download the free podcast. The vast majority of podcasts will be free, but there will be a few that may cost a small amount of money. The process to subscribe to and download the podcasts is the same in either case. First, a podcast client needs to be found and installed. There are many free podast clients available, all providing a slightly different user interface and range of options. They come with many different names, such as Podscape, or Nimiq, and searching for free podcast client or something like it will turn up many possibilities. When the podcast client has been installed, inputting the feed address will allow the podcast to be downloaded. The podcast client will check the address given for a small, machine readable file called an RSS file. This file will contain information about the podcasts, perhaps some text about the individual episodes, as well as the location of the episode file. Once the podcast client has been located the file referred to in the RSS feed, it will be downloaded and stored on the users computer until the want to view it.

Sometimes, of course, access to a personal computer is not available, but it is still necessary to check a certain podcast. Fortunately, many podcast directories offer built in podcast readers in the site. Not only do they often show each recent episode that is available, they may also offer a way to view or listen to those podcast episodes from within the site. By using the viewer contained within the site, it is no longer necessary to even download the podcast episodes. However, the ability to move and share the episodes after downloading is one of the wonderful things about podcasting. The files can be placed on almost and media player, ranging from iPods to the new Play Station Portable. This flexibility is one of the reasons podcasts have succeeded, despite other technologies like streaming music and video. The desire of consumers to have control over technology cannot be over estimated.

The biggest challenge for any work-at-home Mom is to present their business in a professional manner to potential clients or customers. On a daily basis, WAHMs strive to present a positive image of themselves and their business.

How can a work-at-home Mom promote this positive image? A great way to accomplish this goal is through podcasting. It has been said that the greatest advertising for any business is positive word-of-mouth. The best way to accomplish this goal is with podcasting because it gives you a voice.

Podcasting allows WAHMs to share their expertise, knowledge and even personality with potential clients. If you decide to podcast, you will be promoting your business in the best way possible.

When a possible client or customer listens to your podcast, they will hear your voice. As a result, they will develop a bond and trust in you over time. Subsequently, this will build more customers for your business.

When you are doing your podcast, dont be afraid to share too much knowledge. If you hold back information, this could potentially hurt you and the image that people will have of your business. Your potential customers or clients will judge you based on the information that you share in your podcast. Thus, the most important element is to share valuable information.

An important element to keep in mind is that your podcast should not be an entire commercial for your business. If you do this, people will be turned off and they will turn off your podcast. You should strive to share helpful information with your audience. As a result, they will appreciate your sincerity and integrity. It is perfectly acceptable to share all of your business and contact information with your audience at the end of your podcast.

As a work-at-home Mom who is podcasting, you will build positive name recognition within your particular niche. The audience will look to you as an expert within your particular field. Consequently, this is the greatest promotion for any business.

The ultimate goal is to stand out above your competition. Is your competition podcasting? They are probably not podcasting and dont realize the tremendous positive impact that this could have on their business.

When you record your podcast, it is imperative that you dont have any background noises (children, pets, television, radio, etc.) This could potentially distract your listeners and they might turn your show off. Your goal is to present the best possible image that you can to potential clients.

As a WAHM, professionalism is critical to your success. Podcasting can be the greatest element for your business if it is done in the appropriate manner.

If you take the necessary steps to produce a professional podcast with valuable information, you will see an increase in clients and customers over time.
